New Lantern on its Way

The ALA is constructing a replica of the original lantern room and hopes to have it installed in time for the 100th annivarsary of the date the first light was lit at Pt. Retreat.

Boathouse Restoration

Repainting the Pt. Retreat Lighthouse boathouse is a crucial part of our ongoing preservation efforts. The boathouse, a historic structure that has weathered the elements for decades, is in need of a fresh coat of paint to protect it from the harsh coastal environment. This project involves carefully stripping away the old, peeling paint and applying a durable, weather-resistant paint that can withstand the salt, wind, and rain typical of Southeast Alaska. The new paint will not only enhance the boathouse’s appearance, restoring its historical charm, but also ensure its structural integrity for years to come. Volunteers and skilled craftsmen are collaborating on this task, honoring the boathouse’s legacy while safeguarding its future.
